In 1863, at the height of the Civil War, the Kansas City West Bottoms Warehouse Art District began life as the country’s second largest cattle exchange. Nearly destroyed by floodwaters in 1951, the West Bottoms has spent more than 60 years trying to recover…until now.

Stockyards Place is a mixed-use project with 11 high-end, luxury apartments and over 7,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. The first residential project undertaken in this area since the turn of the 20th century, it is the beginning of a revitalization that’s been twenty years in the making.

We used a topical urethane sealer to give the floors in all 11 Stockyard Place units a dark walnut finish. Working with the architect, our certified project managers and installers created an exclusive stain by blending colors from over 30 samples to find just the right look for the feel of the project. This unique stain evolved into a beautiful hardwearing floor system that will match the longevity of the concrete it was applied to.
